Derrick Harriott

Derrick Harriott was a Jamaican recording artist and producer who began his career in the 1950s and 60s, otherwise known as the rocksteady era. Beginning his career with vocal group The Jiving Juniors before commencing a solo career that would span over six decades, he produced and sang on an array of diverse records ranging from ska, rocksteady and reggae, even flirting with dub when it came to prominence in the 1960s.  Constantly attempting-sometimes more successfully than others- to remain relevant in the Jamaican music scene. His early hit records however, were more than enough to secure his rightful place in the pantheon of essential Jamaican artists.
